This cruise from Southampton has been selected for you because there is no flying involved. We have selected the ship Britannia which offers 5* glamour. Britannia is a 143,000 ton vessel which entered service with P&O in 2015 and normally carries 3,600 guests and 1,350 crew.
Day 1
We have arranged a private transfer from your home to Southampton Docks arriving in time for the embarkation formalities. Your cabin is a Superior Deluxe Balcony on A Deck. You will have a bath and shower with an unrestricted view from your windows. This evening its time to relax and familiarise yourselves with this beautiful cruise ship and prepare for the first sumptuous dinner where you can make new friends.
Days 2 & 3
For the next two days you will be at sea heading south to southern Spain. During this time take advantage of the vast selection of on-board facilities. Daytime activities include films, quizzes, galley tours, talks, demonstrations and classes to add interest to the relaxed days at sea. If you feel active enjoy the gym or a dip in one of the swimming pools. The sports deck has football in the sports court, or practice your swing in the golf nets and stretch your legs on the ship’s promenade. Don’t forget the dance classes, shuffle board, deck quoits and cookery classes!
Days 4 & 5
You will arrive into Cadiz before breakfast this morning, and you'll dock right in the heart of the historic town as immediately across the busy Agenda del Porto from the Spanish port is the main square and shopping area. From there it is easy to explore this compact city. If you would like to take an excursion to Seville then you have the opportunity to see the Andalusian countryside and take in the sights of this beautiful historic city.
Day 6
This morning you will arrive into Barcelona, the Catalonian capital. Barcelona provides a vivid mix of ancient and modern but is probably best know for the Art Nouveau architecture of Antonio Gaudi, in particular the iconic Sagrada Familia, Europe's most extraordinary - and still unfinished - cathedral.
It is an easy stroll up to the famous Rambla to the old town. Las Ramblas is thronged with street entertainers, stalls and bars. Alternatively take an excursion like the four hour trip to the famous FC Barcelona ground or Tapas by night.
Day 7
You'll continue east to Monte Carlo, the city famous for the four “G’s”: The Grimaldi monarchy, the Grand Prix, Glamour and Gambling. If you would like to venture away from Monte Carlo, there will be a half-day excurision along the coast to Nice.
Day 8
Today you enter Italian waters to Livorno. From here, most head straight to Pisa, Florence and the Tuscan towns, and you'll have a range of options to explore these iconic cities.
Days 9 & 10
Continuing south, Rome is the next destination. You'll have two full days to relax and explore this magnificent city at leisure. Of course, if you would like a guided excursion, then this will be available, otherwise you can relax and enjoy the on-board facilities.
Day 11
After a day at sea you arrive into Cartegena. Founded 2,200 years ago and now one of Spain’s busiest commercial centres, Cartegena is steeped in history and it's possible to wander through the city on your own. Alternatively, take an excursion to Alicante along the Costa Blanca.
Day 12
Britons love Gibraltar as it is a home from home not just because it has some excellent pubs and tax free shopping Gibraltar also offers wonderful views of the Bay of Gibraltar and the Moroccan mountains from the Rock Restaurant served by cable car from the Grand Parade. The sights are all within walking distance from the dockside.
Days 13 & 14
You will be at sea the next two days as Britannia heads north on the homeward stretch of this wonderful cruise. Once again enjoy your favourite activities on the ship also the superb food on board.
Day 15
After breakfast, you will disembark and our driver will be waiting to take you home with all the memories of a great holiday.
